I haven't donated to charity in a long time, and I feel the need to start doing it, soon!
My Mother, much like my Grandmother was when she was alive; is a Pilar of her church. My Mother is heavily active in her church. She has given to charity all my life!
I remember, years and years ago, she received an award for her charity work, and our family was sooo proud of her! There was a huge banquet dinner, and she received an plaque.
I used to cook a mountain of food, place individual meals in to go containers, and hand them out during Christmas time to the homeless, in Las Vegas. It felt so good, but I always felt sad when I ran out of food to give.
Charity is something that can be done all year long, not just on holiday; around Thanksgiving or Christmas time! There are also various ways to donate to the less fortunate; your time, money, food, clothing, etc.
It feels good inside your heart, and in many religions, or for many individuals; they don't do it to get into heaven, or to remove their sins! They do it, because they care about mankind, are compassionate people, and because they believe we have only one race; which is the human race!
I'm going to donate some gently used clothing, and also a few bras to charity, soon! I found a few organizations that take brand new, like-new, gently worn bras for the less fortunate. Here are the links.
In our religion we definitely believe in donating to charity, and I want to get back to doing it; as often as possible!
"Sikhs believe that charity should not be given in an attempt to curry favor with God; instead it should be given out of the pure desire to help others, an act that itself brings one closer to God."
